Generations of families have made memories to last a lifetime in our hotel on Inishbofin . Grandparents recall their first visits, strolling hand in hand along grassy roads soaking up the silence. Their children and grandchildren stroll the same paths today, still enraptured by the gentle murmur of the waves on the shore and the lonesome call of the seabirds. Young couples take in the sunsets, dreaming of their futures, of returning year after year to this magical place. And so it continues. No words needed. This island writes its own story.

With over 50 years honing our hospitality skills in Inishbofin’s longest established hotel, the Murray family will leave no stone unturned to ensure you have a great stay. Your journey starts from the moment you book your stay. Be warned though, that journey may last a lifetime! Several generations of families will happily admit to being permanently hooked.
120+Years Of Inishbofin Business Heritage
The hotel is built around a cottage our great grandfather built in the early 1900s. He ran a shop just a short distance to the west of this site and built the house here for his son. The thickness of the walls at the archway near the reception desk reveals their origin as stone cottage walls.
In the early 1960s our parents added 4 bedrooms to their Inishbofin home to run a B&B and then expanded the business into Inishbofin’s first purpose built hotel a few years later. The original hotel and the bar were designed by our uncle, well known architect Leo Mansfield. In 1995, the hotel doubled in size with the construction of the new building at the back. .

Music
Murray's bar has for years hosted the best musicians this country has to offer. Andrew Murray has travelled the world with various musical ensembles, including the well known Galway band, De Danann. Many of his friends from the music world regularly come to play and even coax him to sing the odd time too!
