Inishbofin is a haven for artists, fishermen, bird-watchers, nature lovers, photographers or those who just want to escape from the hectic pace of life. Fabulous, safe, sandy beaches are dotted around the island just begging you to swim in the crystal clear waters. Gently undulating landscapes beckon you for a walk along the rugged coastline.

The waters around Inishbofin offer some of the best visibility and exciting dives in Ireland. Underwater caves and coves, abundant marine life ensure that divers return year after year to visit. The Doonmore has a purpose built dive area attached to the hotel with showers facilities, drying area and bottle bank and of course transport to and from the boats.

Sea and Shore Angling

The west coast of Ireland offers excellent sea fishing. Staying on Inishbofin guarantees getting to the fishing grounds in the shortest time possible.
Local boats are available for angling, dolphin spotting, seal watching, bird watching and visits to the nearby islands.

Inishbofin offers many miles of spectacular walking trails ranging from easy to mildly strenuous but all within a manageable distance of that creamy pint of Guinness or a bowl of seafood chowder at Murray’s!

Bird Watching

The island attracts many bird watchers and many interesting species of birds are to be found on Inishbofin. The corncrake, now almost extinct in many areas, still visits the island to nest and its unique call may still be heard in the summer wild flower meadows.

Horse Riding

Trek around the beautiful west end of Inishbofin, climb to the top of the hills and take in the 360 degree views of the Atlantic and the surrounding islands or learn to ride a horse in a safe enclosed arena just beside the hotel.
